The University Grants Commission, under the XIth Plan has initiated Remedial Coaching to the backward class students, students who could not pass particular course as well as those who would like to improve their performance in certain courses. The purpose is to improve the performance and quality of students and to capacitate them.
The Centre for Coaching and counselling is providing Remedial Coaching for various courses and Language Proficiency & Personality Development classes with special focus on the aspirants from SC/ST/OBC/minority communities and BPL students. The students, who are eligible to join the coaching programme, will be given admission based on the performance of academic record and Entrance test/interview organized by the centre.
A coaching centre for economically backward students of SC & ST categories has been set up from the academic session 2008-2009 within the main campus under the sponsorship of the UGC. The Centre will provide academic facilities for the students of backward classes to enable them to get success in examinations.
In order to enable students belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) & Minority communities who need remedial coaching to come up to the level necessary for pursuing higher studies efficiently and reduce their failure and drop out rates, a Centre for Coaching and counselling for Remedial Coaching was established in the college with the objective of organizing Remedial Coaching at the Under-Graduate level.
Remedial coaching will be organized working day after the regular teaching hours of the college are over or before the commencement of classes whichever is convenient the student requiring helps to come up to the standards of the Classes they are attending. Remedial coaching classes also could be organized during the long vacation like summer vacation or winter vacation for those students who are genuinely in need of such intensive coaching.
College has a well-equipped library and special reading room. The library contains books, periodicals, magazines, journals pertaining to the courses and also of general interests of students. It also subscribes to different newspapers. The library is kept open on all working days except Sunday and public holidays.
